What comes to mind when you think of a champion?
Talent and confidence?
Dedication and admiration?
It’s up to you to decide what a champion is. Whether it’s in business, fitness, or life in general, achieving a champion mindset can change everything.
So, how do we get there? Here are some ideas.
CHOOSE YOUR MINDSET
We might think we have control over what happens to us, but in reality, we can only control how we react to the situations life throws our way.
Instead of telling yourself the story that you’re destined to be overweight or meant to fail, you can change your mindset to choose a story that serves you better.
If a business opportunity falls through, you can choose to see it as an opportunity to learn from your mistakes instead of telling yourself that it was bound to happen. If you’re not seeing weight loss results as quickly as you’d hoped, it can be a test of patience and commitment versus a lost cause.
There are so many ways we can use our experiences to foster a champion mindset as opposed to feeling like a victim of our circumstances.
HARD WORK OUTWEIGHS TALENT
True champions understand that success takes a whole lot more than natural talent. Hard work and consistency outweighs talent any day. Talent can set wheels in motion but dedication keeps everything moving.
Knowing this can also help quell feelings of jealousy or bitterness. If you see someone “succeeding” without putting in the work, chances are, their success is only temporary. Keep on keeping on and you’ll see the payoff.
TRUST THE PROCESS
Everyone’s process is different and what works for you might not work for someone else, and vice versa. Trusting your own process and your own journey is key to obtaining a champion mindset.
The process doesn’t even have to be a specific action. Your process might be committing to resilience or being better than you were yesterday. And then doing that every single day.
Stick with the process and trust it. Even if you don’t see instant results, continue to trust.
OUR HABITS BECOME OUR LIVES
The things you do every day eventually become your life. That’s a pretty big deal and it’s important to take a look at your habits to make sure you’re choosing wisely.
Bad habits can take various forms from overeating to constantly treating yourself with sugary foods to the negative thoughts in our head. It’s important to be aware of our habits so that we can make changes when necessary.
Create healthy habits that become a healthy life, like waking up and going to sleep at the same time every day, moving your body every day, and meditating to learn to let negative thoughts pass you by.
YOU ARE WHO YOU SURROUND YOURSELF WITH
You’ve probably heard this one before and it’s undeniably true. Do you ever notice that when you hang out with certain people that the following week you gossip more, eat worse, and generally just feel icky?
Don’t worry, you’re not alone. It’s totally common for people to rub off on you if you’re not aware that it’s happening. The good news is that it works when you surround yourself with people whose values match yours as well.
Surrounding yourself with a new group (even if, at first, this takes the form of just listening to a good podcast) is the first defense against unwanted vibes.
It’ll help you feel more confident in your values since your champion mindset will be reaffirmed by the people around you. Then, when you do come into contact with people not quite on the same wavelength, you’ll be able to empathize and, most importantly, not take it on.
Long story short, the Champion mindset is all about taking responsibility for your choices, actions, and thoughts. Our mission is to help you unleash your inner champion, so go ahead and start your first workout free.
