How is the % of my maximum heart rate calculated?
The estimated percentage of your maximum heart rate, which is displayed at the top right of your screen during your workout, is calculated by first determining your estimated maximum heart rate (which we do by subtracting 220 from your age). We then divide your heart rate from your estimated maximum heart rate to calculate your % of maximum heart rate achieved. To determine your heart rate, we either use your actual heart rate (which we can access from your Health app, provided that you have given us permission) or an estimate of your heart rate (which we estimate based on the exercise intensity, your age and gender). In order for OOMPH to pull your actual heart rate from your Health app, you will need to allow the OOMPH app to read your heart rate data from your Health app. In addition, you will need to be wearing a device, such as a smart watch, that will send your heart rate data to the Health app.
